Nazim Babayev, the winner of the 40th Azerbaijan Winter Championship in athletics, told Idman.biz.
The athlete, who is the national champion in the long jump with an indicator of 7.7 m, said that he achieved this result in his last attempt: "The results I achieved in my first 4-5 attempts were not recorded. With the last result, I decided on the first place. Therefore, I will represent Azerbaijan in the world championship. This will be my first long jump world championship. Having made a successful speech, I want to wave the flag of Azerbaijan high. I will do everything I can for that."
The European champion also emphasized that he will participate in the silver Grand Prix in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia on February 13: "I want to prove myself in this competition shortly before the World Championship. My preparation and performance allow me to participate well in this tournament. I will work on whatever is missing in the next month. Qualifying for the Olympics is not an easy task, the latest license standards have increased significantly. But I trust myself. I'm thinking about the license directly. I'm thinking about getting a license without ever getting into the world ranking. Sooner or later this will be achieved."
It should be noted that the World Athletics Indoor Championship will be held on March 1-3 in Glasgow, Scotland.
