Khankendi - Baku ultra-marathon: The goal of the winner

"My main goal is to cover 380 km in 35 hours."

The employee of Idman.biz sent to Khankendi reports that Elmir Askarov, the winner of the first stage of the Khankendi - Baku ultra-marathon, said this.
According to the athlete who covered the distance of 83 km from Khankendi to Yevlakh in 6 hours and 52 minutes, if he had been told that he would win this result 2 years ago, he would not have thought of it: "It is great that we were able to hold the ultra-marathon race in Khankendi. The first day is always comfortable. I was able to reach the end easily. But I think it will be difficult and tiring in the coming days. I don't think my competitors will overtake me. I have been doing this competition for 4 years. Ultramarathon is like chess. The right tactics and strategy should be used."

He said that even though he is 44 years old, he works in this field with great perseverance: "The main thing is great desire and right will. If everyone ran at least 5 km a week, there would be no need for medication. Those who use protein cannot win here. Correct and healthy food is the main issue.

It should be noted that in the race, which will last until March 4, the participants will reach the finish line in Baku after covering 380 km. Athletes will reach the capital in the following days by crossing Yevlakh - Ujar (84 km), Ujar - Hajigabul (88 km), Hajigabul - Gobustan (70 km) and Gobustan - Baku (55 km) stages.
