Ramil Guliyev, the Azerbaijani-born athlete representing Turkiye, has shared that he recently met with the President of the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation, Javid Gurbanov, regarding potential employment opportunities in Azerbaijan. However, the discussions have not progressed further.
In an exclusive interview with Idman.biz, Guliyev stated: "It is highly likely that I have ended my professional athletic career, which is why I will work with the Turkish Athletics Federation."
The world champion, who frequently visits Baku to see his family, explained that he had a conversation with Gurbanov this year. "I told Javid Gurbanov that I am ready to work with our athletes as a coach and to assist in forming a working group to help improve the national team. Unfortunately, no one has contacted me since then. It seems the Federation does not need my services."
Guliyev chose to represent Turkiye in 2011. He became the world champion in 2017 and the European champion the following year while wearing the Turkish national team uniform. In 2018, he was named Turkiye's Best Athlete of the Year.
