Today, the National Cross Country Championship was held in Sheki.
Idman.biz reports that athletes representing different regions of the republic competed in the competition organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Azerbaijan Athletics Federation.
About 200 athletes from Ganja, Nakhchivan, Shaki, Barda, Ismailli, Khizi, Gakh, Zagatala, Balaken, Gabala, Oguz and Naftalan took part in the National Championship. Bakhtiyar Alasgarli, representative of Barda, became the National Champion in men's 10 km race. Baku athlete Nihat Jabbarli won the 6 km race, and Ganja athletes Umid Ibrahimov and Isgender Askerov won the highest place in the 3 and 2 km races, respectively.
Anna Yusupova left behind all her competitors in the 6 km race among women. Nakhchivan athlete Aysu Abbasova won the 4 km race, while Ilaha Guliyeva and Nila Heydarova, the representatives of the capital, won the race at 2 and 1 km distances.
