Baku club defeated Shafa 7:0 in the second qualifying round, and Shamakhi 6:0 in the 1/8 finals. In the Azerbaijan Cup held since 1992, only three teams have scored 6 or more goals in two consecutive games.
However, those teams showed productivity in both matches of the stage against the same opponent. In the 2003/04 season, Shafa defeated Lider-Qarabag (14:0, 8:1), four years later, Ganjlarbirliyi defeated Adliya (6:1, 6:0), in the next tournament, Simurg defeated Guba. Shahdag (7:1, 8:0) was defeated twice.
