The Azerbaijan Amputee Football Team participated in the League of Nations held in Scotland organized by the European Amputee Football Federation.
According to the information provided to Idman.biz by ANAMA, the national team competing with the Netherlands, Scotland, Albania and Kosovo in the D division finished in the 2nd place and qualified for the final stage of the European Championship to be held in France in 2024.
At the closing ceremony of the tournament, the team was awarded silver medals by Mateusz Vidlak, president of the European Amputee Football Federation, and Mrs. Marie Todd, Minister of Social Care and Sports of Scotland.
It should be noted that the people have injured from the explosion of mines planted by the enemy in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan will participate in the final stage of the European Championship for the first time. In the final stage where 16 countries will compete, in addition to the world champion Türkiye, strong teams such as England, France, Spain, Italy, Germany and Poland will participate.
The participation of the Azerbaijan national team in the League of Nations was organized on the basis of a memorandum of understanding concluded between ANAMA and AFFA within the framework of the reintegration of mine victims into society and providing mass education about mine danger through football.
