Well-known basketball specialist, Olympic and European champion Rimas Kurtinaitis has been appointed head coach of Sabah Basketball Club.

It was reported that a 1.5-year contract was signed with the 63-year-old Lithuanian specialist. Kurtinaitis, who is considered one of the best "shooters" in the history of European basketball, protected the honor of Jalgiris (Lithuania), CSKA (Russia), and Real Madrid (Spain) clubs as a player.
He went down the history as the only coach who won the European Cup 3 times. He won the European Cup with Letuvos Ritas (Lithuania) in the 2008/2009 season, and with the Khimki (Russia) club in the 2011/2012 and 2014/2015 seasons. Kurtinaitis was the champion of the VTB League with the Khimki club in the 2010/2011 season. He has more than 100 victories in the VTB League as a coach.
It should be noted that the Lithuanian basketball specialist worked as the head coach of the Baku Gala club and at the same time of the Azerbaijan national team in 2002-2006.
