"We were ready for the match. We started the game well."
As Idman.biz reports, this was said by Anar Sariyev, the head coach of Azerbaijan’s U18 national basketball team.
The young specialist commented on the 76:69 victory over Armenia in the Division C of the European Championship. He said that the excitement prevented the victory from being more significant: "The children felt responsible. Most of our basketball players were facing Armenia for the first time. But we talked with them and explained everything. I said that we are no longer in personal competition with our opponent, we have shown the whole world that we are a winning country. We were instructed to fight purely as athletes. As a result, we ended the match with victory."
Sariyev also said that the national team will fight to advance to the finals: "We have a game against Albania in the semi-finals. We will watch videos of the opponent's games and take a look at their statistics. I don't like to talk in advance. But we will do our best to beat Albania and advance to the final."
The meeting between Azerbaijan and Albania will be held tomorrow at 20:00.
