Veteran Polish basketball player Zbigniew Marculewicz has passed away.
The Polish Basketball Association has announced that the former athlete died in a fire.
The tragedy occurred in the village of Nowodzel. Although he was rescued from the burning building, it was not possible to save his life.
The 46-year-old former player, who played for teams including Belostok, Tarnov, and Staroqard Gdański in the Polish Premier League, participated in a total of 285 games over 11 seasons. He was named the league's best shot-blocker in the 2002/2003 season.
