Sumgayit basketball player Derrick Newton reflected on the team’s season start in the Azerbaijan Basketball League, explaining their struggles in the first three games due to injuries and player fouls.
"In our game against Ordu, we started strong, but Saadettin Donat’s foul limit put us in a tough spot," he said, Idman.biz reports.
Despite support from Sumgayit fans, the team has yet to secure a victory.
Newton spoke highly of Azerbaijan and his time here, saying, "I love Azerbaijan. Sumgayit feels like home, and Baku is on another level." In his free time, he enjoys local cuisine, TV shows, restaurant visits, and playing PlayStation.
Currently, Sumgayit holds 3 points, standing last in Group B after three rounds.
