Sahib Mammadov: "We aim to advance to the World Championship finals"

"The management trusted me and invited me. I thank them for that. I am very happy to work in my native country."

As Idman.biz reports, Sahib Mammadov, the new head coach of the Azerbaijan beach football team, said this in a statement to the affa.az website.

The expert evaluated the appointment. He gave information about himself and emphasized that he would do everything possible for the successful performance of the Azerbaijani national team: "I wore the uniform of our national beach football team between 2008 and 2014. After performing in Turkiye for two years, I lived in Lithuania from 2016 to this year. I ended my football career in 2018, and from 2019 to May of this year I worked as a head coach of the Lithuanian national team. Last year we won Division B of Europe and the Lithuanian national team was promoted to the A division for the first time in its history. I have gained enough experience in Turkiye and Lithuania."

The head coach added that there are all conditions for the development of beach soccer in Baku: "Baku has a very nice field for beach soccer. The conditions created in the Water Sports Palace are unmatched worldwide. The weather also allows preparation here. It is possible to train not only in summer, but also in winter. It would be great if a national championship was held for the development of beach football. If this is the case, the national team will have a wide choice. In addition, participating in international tournaments will increase the experience of football players. "The more games there are, the faster the development."

Sahib Mammadov also announced his plans and goals for the national team: "We will start training on August 1. I sent invitations to 12 players. They all have enough experience. You can continue with this staff for two years. However, I aim to train at least 5-6 young players and attract them to the national team. In October, the qualifying round of the world championship will be held in Spain. Our goal is to qualify for the final stage of the world championship. Our national beach soccer team has never participated in the World Cup. The qualifying round is held every two years. Although we have little time, we will do our best to make this history. Next year, we will compete in Division B of Europe. We want to return to the A division as the champions of Division B."

Sahib Mammadov has 1-year-contract with the club.
