Azerbaijani boxer Marjona Savrieva has guaranteed herself a medal at the European Championship held in Sofia, Bulgaria.
According to Idman.biz, the athlete, competing in the 50 kg weight category, faced Neely Brooke from Scotland in the quarterfinals.
Due to an injury sustained by her opponent in the first round, doctors did not allow the fight to continue, resulting in Savrieva being declared the winner and advancing to the semifinals. With this victory, she has secured at least a bronze medal.
Marjona will face Dominika Kuczewska from Poland on October 17 in a fight for a place in the final.
