Azerbaijani boxers has concluded their participation in the European U23 Championship, held in Sofia, Bulgaria. Competing among the continent’s best, Azerbaijan secured 3 silver and 1 bronze medal.
Murad Allahverdiyev contributed the 4th medal to the team’s tally. Competing in the 80 kg weight category, he claimed the silver medal after losing to Cesar Yojerlin (France) in the final, earning second place on the podium at the European Championship.
Earlier, Tural Sariyev (48 kg) and Nijat Huseynov (51 kg) also won silver medals. Marjona Savrieva (50 kg) secured third place, winning a bronze medal.

The Azerbaijan national boxing team has claimed another medal at the European U23 Boxing Championship held in Sofia, Bulgaria.
According to Idman.biz, Nijat Huseynov added the latest accolade to the team’s tally. Competing in the 51 kg category, Huseynov finished the championship with a silver medal, marking his third medal in European championships. He has previously won the U-22 championship title twice.
With this success, Azerbaijan’s medal count in Sofia has risen to three. Earlier, Tural Sarıyev (48 kg) secured second place, while Marjona Savrieva (50 kg) finished in third.
Additionally, another member of Azerbaijan will compete in the finals later today.

Azerbaijani boxer Tural Sariyev won a silver medal at the U-23 European Championship.
The member of the national team fighting in the 48 kg weight class won this award in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, Idman.biz reports
Sariyev, who defeated Lasha Kereselidze (Georgia) and Samet Oruj Salih (Turkiye) in his first two matches, faced Luis Rooney (Ireland) in the final. Since the match ended with a 4:1 victory of the opponent, Tural finished the European championship in second place.
This was the second medal won by our national team in the competition. Before Sariyev, Marjona Savriyeva (50 kg) won the bronze prize.
Today 2 more boxers of Azerbaijan team will participate in the final match.
