This was stated by Azerbaijani boxer Tural Sariyev in an interview with Idman.biz during the welcoming ceremony at Heydar Aliyev International Airport after the success of the Azerbaijani national team at the European Championship for boxers under 23.
"I had three bouts in the championship. I defeated my Georgian opponent in the quarterfinals, securing a spot in the semifinals. I achieved victory over a Turkish boxer at that stage. However, I lost in the final to an Irish opponent. I faced injustice from the referees, who awarded the victory to the Irish boxer."
Sariyev also shared his goals and desire to make up for his final defeat: "My aim is to become European, world, and Olympic champion. In the future, I will turn this silver into gold. I want to face my Irish opponent again for revenge. I hope to defeat him in the quarterfinals so that he doesn't make it to the podium and goes home without a medal."
Sariyev competed in the 48 kg category and won a silver medal at the tournament held in Sofia, Bulgaria.
