New head coach appointed for Azerbaijan's national boxing team

A new head coach has been appointed for Azerbaijan's men’s national boxing team.

Idman.biz reports that the national team has been entrusted to Ravshan Khodjaev from Uzbekistan, who has been serving as the technical director of the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation since last year.

The 44-year-old coach is a boxing master from Uzbekistan and began his coaching career in 1998. Over the course of his career, he has trained champions at the national, Asian, world, and Olympic levels.

From 2016 to 2023, Khodjaev worked with the Coaches Council of the Uzbekistan Boxing Federation. He holds a 3-star coaching certification from the IBA and is also an honored coach of Uzbekistan, decorated with the "Order of Friendship." In 2016, he was awarded an international prize and holds a professor’s degree in sports theory, methodology, and science.

Khodjaev replaces Cuban coach Pedro Roque, whose contract had expired.
