Azerbaijani boxer Ali Abdullayev wrapped up the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Budva, Montenegro, with a silver medal.
As reported by Idman.biz, Abdullayev, competing in the 63.5 kg category, faced Abdulaziz Jurakulov from Uzbekistan in the final match.
The bout was stopped in the third round by judges' decision, declaring Jurakulov the winner, leaving Abdullayev in second place.
With Abdullayev’s silver, the national team concluded the championship with a total of five medals. Prior to this, Bilalhabashi Nazarov (48 kg) also claimed silver, while Mahammadali Gasimzade (60 kg), Zidan Humbatov (51 kg), and Aynur Mikayilova (57 kg) each secured bronze medals.
This achievement marks Azerbaijan’s best performance in medal count in the history of the championships.
