FIDE has announced the names of the first three rating favorites of the world rapid and blitz championship to be held in Samarkand on December 26-30.
Idman.biz reports that the world champion Magnus Carlsen heads the list in both types.
In Rapid, Alireza Firuzca and Fabiano Caruana share the second and third places, respectively.
In blitz, Jan Nepomnyashi and Jan-Krzysztof Duda settled in the first "three" after the Norwegian.
In the women's rapid race, the top three ranking favorites belong to the Chinese: Yu Wenjun, Tan Zhongqi and Tingle Lei. Lei, Wenjun and Katerina Lagno are in the "three" in Blitz.
It should be noted that Shahriyar Mammadyarov ranks 13th in rapid and Gunay Mammadzade 15th in blitz among Azerbaijani chess players.
