Nijat Abasov: "I don't have a specific goal in the Candidates Tournament"

"This is one step of the final stage. Participating in the tournament is a turning point in my career. Undoubtedly, it is the most important race of my career."

This was told by Nijat Abasov, who will participate in the Chess Candidates Tournament.

He said that most of the participants are young and there are many Indians. According to Abasov, his main desire is to show his best game: "My main goal in the race is to do my best not to regret when I look back at the end, “I shouldn't have done this ride. I want to see the results of my preparation during the competition. I don't have any specific goals. I want to be maximally prepared and get the best possible result. I have already started preparations for this."

It should be noted that Nijat Abasov will compete with Ian Nepomniachtchi (FIDE), Fabiano Caruana, Hikaru Nakamura (both USA), Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, Vidit Santosh Gujrathi, Dommaraju Gukesh (all three from India) and Alireza Firouzja (France) in the Candidates tournament.
