"Finishing the European Championship with 7 medals is a great success. Our chess players delight us with medals every year."
Aynur Sofiyeva, a member of the Executive Committee of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, told Idman.biz.
The first international grandmaster among women both in Azerbaijan and in the Islamic world evaluated the performance of our chess players in the European Championship. Sofiyeva highlighted the silver medals won by Ayan Allahverdiyeva and Khazar Babazade among 18-year-olds: "These awards are very valuable. Because they were closer to adults. "The victories and experience gained in these tournaments will play an exceptional role in their future performances."
She also gave some advice to our young athletes: "If they achieve such success, they know what to do and how to do it. The main thing is that they constantly work on themselves. Both the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Chess Federation create all conditions for our chess players to participate in various competitions. Let them show themselves well in all competitions they participate in."
It should be noted that at the European Championship, Mohammad Kazimzadeh, Mehriban Ahmadli, Ahmed Khagan, Rustam Rustamov were awarded gold medals, Ayan Allahverdiyeva and Khazar Babazadeh were awarded silver medals, and Saadat Bashirli was awarded bronze medals. Azerbaijan was the first in the team score with this indicator.
