Chess Federation: "Respecting national team values is the basis"

The Azerbaijan Chess Federation announced the main conditions for the formation of national teams that will participate in the World Chess Olympiad.

Idman.biz reports that Azerbaijan will be represented by both men's and women's teams at the World Chess Olympiad, which will be held in September in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.

It was reported that this competition is considered one of the most prestigious competitions in the world of chess, and a number of criteria are considered in the formation of the team that will participate here: "Azerbaijan Chess Federation pays attention to the participation of every chess player in the competitions and does not spare the necessary help. Every year, by increasing the prize fund of the Azerbaijan championship, it tries to ensure the participation of all candidates for the national team in the competition. The composition of the national team is based on principles such as the participation of chess players in domestic and international tournaments, including the most important among local competitions - the Azerbaijan Championship, the chess player's game preparation, participation in training organized by the federation, and respecting the values of the national team. A chess player who receives an invitation to the national team must participate in the strengthening of interteam relations and business atmosphere, be loyal to the team spirit and consider the common goal above personal principle. The FIDE rating of the chess player is taken into account in the formation of the national team, but this factor does not play a decisive role.

It was noted that the candidates for the national team are discussed with the members of the Executive Committee of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation and the final decision is made: "This year Shakhriyar Mamadyarov, Rauf Mammadov, Nijat Abasov, Aydin Suleymanli and Muhammad Muradli have been invited to the national team of male chess players. Gunay Mammadzada, Govhar Beydullayeva, Khanim Balajayeva, Ulviyya Fataliyeva and Gulnar Mammadova will compete for medals in the national team of female chess players. During the formation of the national team, one reserve chess player was selected for each team. Vasif Durarbeyli and Ayan Allahverdiyeva were added to the list as reserve participants in the men's and women's chess teams, respectively. Along with the main members of the team, the mentioned chess players were also included in the scholarship program by the Azerbaijan Chess Federation.”

The Chess Olympiad will last from September 10 to 23.
