The European Chess Championship has announced the qualification criteria for the World Cup.
According to the rules, the top 20 players at the championship, which will be held from November 8-19 in Petrovac, Montenegro, will secure World Cup slots, Idman.biz reports.
The event will feature 150 players, with Slovenia’s Vladimir Fedoseyev as the highest-ranked participant. Azerbaijan’s leading grandmaster, Rauf Mammadov, is currently ranked 22nd in the tournament. Other Azerbaijani competitors include Eltaj Safarli, Aydin Suleymanli, Mahammad Muradli, Vugar Rasulov, Vasif Durarbayli, and several others, making for a strong national representation.
