The Executive Board of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation has convened for a key meeting.
According to the federation’s press service via Idman.biz, the meeting took place at the National Carpet Museum and welcomed several high-profile guests, including FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich, two-time world champion and Chess Olympiad winner Zhu Chen, and President of the Turkish Chess Federation Fethi Apaydin.
In his address, ACF President Mahir Mammadov thanked the guests for attending the Baku Open 2025 opening ceremony. He emphasized the Federation’s ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation with both FIDE and the Turkish Chess Federation, and highlighted the importance of high-level organization for the regional stages of the Azerbaijan Chess Tour, which is being held for the first time this year.
As a gesture of appreciation, President Mammadov presented a commemorative gift to Zhu Chen, honoring her achievements and contributions to the sport.
The Executive Board also held discussions regarding the upcoming report and election conference of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation.
