Interview of Marcos Ferreira, a former Azerbaijan national team, as well as Karvan and Neftchi midfielder to Idman.biz website.
- What are you currently doing?
- I live in my homeland - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I studied physical education, after which I was admitted to a postgraduate course in sports science due to high performance. I run a scouting course to recruit players. That is, I train high-performance athletes.
- You wore the uniform of the Azerbaijan national team, as well as the Karvan and Neftchi clubs. How do you remember our country?
- I remember the years I spent in Azerbaijan with great love. I like the culture, the people. There are wonderful people in Azerbaijan, I made many friends there during 6 years and learned a lot from them. I miss the people, the atmosphere and drinking tea.
- Would you like to return to Azerbaijan again?
- I would very much like to return to Azerbaijan one day and contribute to the development of football.
- Do you watch Azerbaijani football? What impression does our football give?
- I'm looking. I see that today the biggest team of Azerbaijan is Qarabag, which competes in European competitions and is coached by a great coach named Gurban, whom I admire. From my time to the present, teams have changed, new clubs have been formed, and some have stopped operating. I believe that as one of the first foreigners to play in Azerbaijan, I made a certain contribution to the evolution of football in the country. I see that the working structures have improved a lot, there is development in every aspect of football.
- Fernando Santos was chosen as the head coach of the national team. How would you rate the appointment of the Portuguese?
- He is undoubtedly a great coach, with the experience he gained in all clubs and national teams, he will make a great contribution to Azerbaijani football. I hope that Santos will lead the team successfully.
