Wojciech Szczesny, the former Polish goalkeeper renowned for his time at Arsenal and Juventus, has made a significant comeback to professional football.
According to Idman.biz, Szczesny has signed a contract with Spanish giants Barcelona, which will keep him at the club until June 30, 2025.
This move comes in light of an unfortunate injury to Barcelona’s main goalkeeper, German Marc-André ter Stegen , who sustained a knee ligament injury during the away match against Villarreal on September 23, which ended in a 5-1 defeat. Ter Stegen has undergone surgery and is expected to be sidelined for approximately eight months.
Szczesny, 34, had announced his retirement from football on August 27, with Juventus being his last club. His return to the pitch will be closely watched as he steps into a critical role for Barcelona during ter Stegen’s recovery.
