Manchester United find themselves in the midst of an unusual streak in European competitions.
According to Idman.biz, the English club has failed to win any of their last six European Cup matches in which they scored two or more goals. This unfortunate trend has occurred across both the Champions League and Europa League, marking a rare and puzzling stretch for the Red Devils.
The streak began on March 9, 2023, after a 4-1 victory over Real Betis in the Europa League. Since then, United has struggled to secure wins despite putting up goals, drawing 3-3 with Galatasaray and 2-2 with Sevilla in the Champions League, and suffering narrow defeats to Bayern Munich (3-4) and Copenhagen (3-4). The frustration continued as United once again fell to Galatasaray, this time 2-3 in another high-scoring encounter.
The streak finally extended to six games in today’s 3-3 draw with Porto in the Europa League. Ironically, Manchester United has found more success in European competitions when scoring fewer goals. In a previous encounter, they managed a narrow 1-0 win over Copenhagen in a campaign where their defense was more solid.
