Azerbaijan U-21 National Team Concludes EURO 2025 Qualifying Round in Last Place

The Azerbaijan U-21 national football team has officially wrapped up its qualifying campaign for EURO 2025, marking another challenging chapter in its history.

As reported by Idman.biz, the team finished the qualifying round in 15th place, and unfortunately, this cycle ended in disappointment. In 14 out of 15 qualifying rounds, the Azerbaijani team found itself in the last position, making this their 8th time at the bottom of the standings.

After managing to escape this fate in the previous two cycles, the team has reverted to its status as an outsider. For the second time in the last seven group stages, our national team had to look up at all its opponents in the rankings.

This cycle was also notable for setting unfortunate records in goal-scoring. The team managed to score only 4 goals, marking the weakest performance in the last nine qualifying stages. Additionally, conceding 30 goals was the second-worst result in the team's history, only surpassed by the debut campaign in EURO 1996. The current cycle has recorded the weakest performance over the past 29 years.

Finishing with only 3 points, the team recorded the second-worst outcome in its history. The only weaker result was in EURO 2006, where the team ended the campaign without earning a single point. This is not the first time the team has concluded a cycle with just 3 points; similar outcomes were witnessed in EURO 1996, EURO 2006, EURO 2009, and EURO 2019.
