Ajax midfielder Davy Klaassen to miss Qarabag match: "It's a shame"

Ajax midfielder Davy Klaassen has expressed disappointment over missing the upcoming UEFA Europa League match against Qarabag.

According to Sport.biz, the 31-year-old was not included in Ajax's Europa League squad, which also kept him out of matches against Besiktas and Slavia. As a result, he will not be traveling to Baku for the Qarabag game. Head coach Francesco Farioli has decided that Klaassen should stay in Amsterdam for training rather than accompany the team to Azerbaijan.

Klaassen said, "Unfortunately, just like in the previous games, I’ll be missing the match against Qarabag as well. I’ll have to stay home. The team won’t be training in Baku the day after the game, so we saw no need for me to make the trip. I’ll stay here and focus on training."

Klaassen rejoined Ajax from Inter in the second half of September, making him ineligible for Europa League registration.
