Siyasat Asgarov, the head coach of the Azerbaijan women's national football team, discussed the team's challenging playoff match against Portugal in the European Championship.
While Azerbaijan had scored in the first leg at home, they were unable to replicate this in the away game, ending with a 0-4 defeat, Idman.biz reports.
The coach noted that the team had worked on their mistakes from the home game but faced difficulties due to Portugal's high level of play and a red card in the 71st minute that impacted their performance. Additionally, Asgarov expressed disappointment over a controversial penalty decision that led to Portugal’s third goal.
Despite the results, Asgarov considers these matches as valuable experience, helping the team prepare to perform better in the C League as they aim to climb back to the B League in future competitions.
