Ruddy Buquet, one of France's most experienced referees, has been suspended from officiating Ligue 1 matches and will now officiate in Ligue 2 instead.
According to Idman.biz, the decision follows his failure to pass the physical fitness tests required for refereeing at the top level. Buquet, who is 47 years old, successfully completed the tests for the lower division after his initial failure served as the main referee during the Champions League match between Azerbaijani champion Qarabag and Atlético Madrid, which ended in a 0-0 draw in the 2017/18 season. He was also the referee for the scoreless draw between the Azerbaijani national team and Croatia in 2015.
