Peruvian footballer Hugo de la Cruz Meza from Familia Chocca has tragically died after being struck by lightning during a game.
According to Idman.biz, local media reported that at least one other person was injured. Goalkeeper Juan Choca suffered severe burns and has been hospitalized, while the condition of other players affected by the lightning strike remains unclear.
The incident occurred at the Coto Coto stadium in Chicha, Huancayo department during a match between local teams Juventud Bellavista and Familia Choca.
The game was halted due to a severe storm. As players attempted to leave the stadium, they were struck by lightning. Video footage captures the exact moment of the strike, showing several players collapsing simultaneously.
