In a press conference about Azerbaijan's upcoming matches against Estonia and Sweden in the UEFA Nations League, the head coach of the national team, Fernando Santos, discussed the decisions regarding players not being called up, such as Mehdi Jannatov and Mahir Emreli.
As reported by Idman.biz, Santos explained that the decision to leave out Jannatov was based on technical reasons, as he did not find the player's recent performances satisfactory. He also mentioned that Emreli would not feature in the upcoming match, but reassured that there is always a way to find solutions. Santos stated that the team would clarify the situation during the next training camp and make decisions regarding player selections moving forward.
