Qarabag to secure playoff spot in Sweden and Greece

Qarabag are now recognized as a strong away team.

According to Idman.biz, the Azerbaijani champions have won more than half of their 14 away matches in the past two seasons, securing 8 victories. In contrast, they have only won 5 out of the same number of matches at home.

In the current UEFA Europa League group stage, Qarabag earned their first three points away in Norway. This victory has opened the door to the next stage. To reach the playoff round and qualify for the top 24, the team needs at least two more wins (or one win and three draws) from their remaining four matches. One of these matches will be in Sweden against Elfsborg in December, and the final match will be in Greece against the Conference League champions, Olympiakos, in January.

Qarabag have previously won in Sweden, defeating Häcken 1:0 last year and Gefle 2:0 in 2013. In Greece, they have triumphed over Olympiakos 3:0 and PAOK 1:0 in 2016.

Given these past successes, it's realistic to believe that Qarabag has the potential to earn the necessary points in their upcoming away games to qualify for the playoffs.

Back in Baku, Qarabag will play Lyon from France at the end of this month and Romania's FCSB (formerly known as Steaua) in January.

As for the current standings in the UEFA Europa League, FCSB is in 8th, Lyon in 9th, Olympiakos in 11th, Elfsborg in 24th, and Qarabag are currently 29th.
