57-year-old forward Kazuyoshi Miura eyes 40th Season

Japanese footballer Kazuyoshi Miura, who currently plays for Atlético Suzuka, plans to continue his career into a remarkable 40th season.

According to Idman.biz, the 57-year-old forward, on loan from second-division club Yokohama FC to the fourth-tier Atlético Suzuka, made his debut with his current team in July.

Miura now holds the record as the oldest player in the Japan Football League and aims to participate in next season’s championship, which runs on a spring-to-fall schedule. By that time, Miura will be 58 years old.

Miura was named Asia's best player in 1992. Representing the Japanese national team from 1990 to 2000, he scored 55 goals in 89 matches and won both the Asia and Afro-Asia Cups in 1992. Over his career, he has earned 18 titles, including four Japanese championships and one in Croatia.
