Former Azerbaijani national team player Vidadi Rzayev has expressed concerns about the lack of support for youth football in Ganja.
Speaking to Idman.biz, Rzayev commented on the recent withdrawal of U-8 and U-11 teams from a tournament due to poor conditions. He mentioned that, while similar events were previously held in Goygol, this time a different location was chosen, which did not provide adequate facilities for the teams.
Rzayev, who has a history with Ganja football, voiced his disappointment with the situation, saying, "There must be proper conditions. This is why youth football is in such a poor state. It’s unfortunate that, even in the 21st century, these issues remain unsolved. Youth clubs in Ganja lack basic equipment, even proper uniforms, while funds meant for them are misused. We’re tired of talking about this issue."
He further highlighted that youth football in Ganja is deteriorating, attributing this to the club’s management. Reflecting on his own experience with Kapaz, he stated that the same issues existed back then. In contrast, Rzayev praised the conditions provided for young players at Turan Tovuz academy, where he recently observed the well-supported facilities.
This dissatisfaction was also echoed by Xezerxeber.az, which reported that around 40 teams withdrew from the competition due to the lack of promised amenities.
