World’s 25th: Qarabag surpass Real and Barcelona

The top clubs in the world based on strikes from the center of the penalty area have been revealed.

According to Idman.biz, CIES has published the results of its research covering the 63 strongest leagues globally.

Leading the list this season is Portugal’s Sporting, known for dominating near the penalty spot. Sporting averages 9.09 shots per game from dangerous areas while allowing only 2.18 to opponents, giving them a margin of 6.91. Shanghai Port follows with a margin of 6.56, and Bayern Munich with 6.00.

Azerbaijan’s clubs have also made the list, with two representatives in high positions.

Qarabag ranks 25th worldwide. Coach Gurban Gurbanov’s team achieves an advantage of 3.92 shots per game, with 6.67 shots from dangerous areas while allowing opponents 2.75 shots.

In CIES’s rankings, Qarabag is close to PSG (4.00) and Galatasaray (3.91). Other notable teams, such as Ajax (3.73), Porto (3.70), Liverpool (3.55), and Atalanta (3.50), also trail the Azerbaijani champions.

Sabah ranks 51st with a margin of 3.31. Giants like Barcelona (3.15) and Real Madrid (2.00) also fall behind these Azerbaijani teams.

As for the other Misli Premier League clubs, Turan Tovuz has a margin of 1.46, and Araz-Nakhchivan is at 1.25. Ten other teams show negative margins, meaning opponents create more goal-scoring opportunities against them. The lowest margin belongs to Sabail, with -4.23, placing it among the bottom 11 across all 63 leagues.

For ongoing leagues, this season’s data was considered, while for completed championships, the last season was analyzed.
