"This is our national team, and as fans, we should support our team," said Honored Artist Elton Huseynaliyev in an interview with Idman.biz.
The artist shared his thoughts on the 0-6 loss of Azerbaijan to Sweden in the UEFA Nations League. As a football fan, Huseynaliyev expressed disappointment over the result, noting that the team's poor form has persisted for several matches: "This failure has been ongoing for a few games now. Our team has scored 3 goals and conceded 17 so far in this phase. Every team goes through a tough period, and it seems that our national team is experiencing that now. Our team needs a bit more time. Everything depends on the national league, our clubs need to become stronger. Additionally, only a few of our players play abroad, which impacts the national team. Alongside this, youth football needs to be strengthened, and foreign-based players should be included in our squad."
He also highlighted the improvement in the performance of Azerbaijani players when looking at various age categories: "The development of our players is primarily driven by the Qarabag club. For our national team to develop, the younger generation needs to improve further and play abroad. This, however, takes time. There will come a time when we will score 4-5 goals against the teams that have defeated us."
Azerbaijan's national team has earned only 1 point from 6 matches in the Nations League.
