Today, the legendary Georgian footballer, Aleksandre Chivadze, celebrates his 70th birthday.
Chivadze was a prominent defender and captain for both the Tbilisi Dinamo and the USSR national team during the 1970s and 1980s, Idman.biz reports.
In 1980, he was named the best footballer in the Soviet Union and won a bronze medal at the Moscow Olympics.
In 1981, Chivadze led Tbilisi Dinamo to victory in the Cup Winners' Cup.
Chivadze is also well known to Azerbaijani football fans, having faced Neftchi multiple times in the 70s and 80s as a key player for Tbilisi Dinamo.
