“Sharing my football experience with children brings me true happiness.”
These were the words of former Neftchi player Bruno Bertucci in an interview with Idman.biz.
The Brazilian, who recently celebrated his 35th birthday, says everything is going well in his life. Having retired from professional football, Bertucci is now focused on coaching:
“I run a football school, and I truly enjoy what I do. But what makes me happiest of all is being the father of a beautiful 10-month-old daughter.”
Bertucci says he often thinks back to his time with Neftchi and still follows the team's games whenever possible. He expressed disappointment at the club's current form:
“It’s disheartening to see Neftchi no longer competing for the title while Qarabag has established total dominance in Azerbaijani football. During my time, we were the best team in the country and managed to write history. From afar, it's hard to say exactly why the club is in this situation, but I hope Neftchi will once again fight for titles and return to its former glory.”
Reflecting on his career, Bertucci said his time with the Baku-based club holds a special place in his heart:
“I still keep in touch with some of my former teammates, especially Flavinho and Denis Silva. I have great affection for Azerbaijan and its people. That period of my life was truly special. One day, I’d love to return with my family and show my daughter the places that made me happy. If possible, it would be a dream to play a friendly match with other legendary Neftchi players.”
Bruno Bertucci wore the Neftchi jersey between 2012 and 2014, winning the Azerbaijani Premier League title twice during his time with the club.
