"We began our preparation today. The team will hold three training sessions in Baku," said Vitaliy Borisov, head coach of Azerbaijan's national futsal team, in an interview with azfutzal.az before the day's training session.
Borisov explained that the focus will be on tactical drills and set-piece execution. "On November 3, we will head to Bosnia and Herzegovina, where we’ll have one training session before the match. Following that, we’ll play two games."
The coach also touched on roster updates: "We won’t be traveling with a full squad. Our goalkeeper, Rovshan Huseynli, continues his career in Kazakhstan. We decided it would be better for him to stay with his club and participate in their league matches, as the Kazakh league is ongoing. Additionally, there are futsal players who couldn’t join due to injuries or other reasons. Overall, though, the team is in good shape, and the players are motivated. The Azerbaijani league has already started, with three rounds played, providing valuable match experience for the players."
Borisov emphasized the importance of the upcoming friendly matches: "Both friendlies are preparation for our official match against Sweden in Baku on December 17. Our opponent is a strong team; we’ve previously played against the Swedish champions with Araz-Nakhchivan in the preliminary round of the UEFA Champions League, and 5-6 of their national players were on that team. They have largely kept the same squad over the past 5-6 years, so we expect a challenging match."
