Azerbaijan national futsal team players Khatai Baghirov and Isa Atayev, who had planned to join Belgium’s Futsal Besiktas Gent, may not transfer this season due to visa delays.
Baghirov told Idman.biz that both players have now reached an agreement with Neftchi and will likely remain in Azerbaijan until the season’s end: “Our visas were delayed. They are now ready, but we would need to pick them up from Istanbul. With the championship ongoing here, we cannot travel. Most likely, we’ll play for Neftçi this season, though there’s a chance we may still go mid-season. The visa process is lengthy, and we are also well settled with the Baku club. Moreover, Futsal Besiktas Gent has missed their championship chance, so at worst, we will go by season’s end.”
The two players had initially aimed for a 1+1 year contract with the Belgian club, which was established in 2015 by Turkish businesspeople in Belgium and currently competes in the First League.
