Adela Dimova: "The performance of Azerbaijani gymnasts feels like a fairy tale" - INTERVIEW

Adela Dimova, the coach of the Slovakian rhythmic gymnastics team, gave an interview to the press service of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation.

Idman.biz reports that she evaluated the meetings at the National Gymnastics Arena and expressed her opinion about the Azerbaijan national team.

- Is this your first visit to Baku?

- No, I have been here many times before. I participated in training camps and competitions.

- How did you decide to hold a meeting here again?

- First of all, there are many professionals with high experience here. They are always ready to help us. I like to visit Baku very much. The atmosphere and conditions are top notch. Here, athletes train non-stop every day. We decided to come here again and feel the energy in the hall.

- How did you come to the training camp with the athlete?

- I came with a gymnast and I am her personal trainer. She is a member of the national team. The purpose of our visit to Baku is to increase our experience by preparing even better for this year's competitions.

- What competitions are you preparing for?

- We are preparing for international as well as domestic tournaments.

- What are you practicing here?

- We are working on choreography here. Our gymnast trains together with individual gymnasts of the national team. I would like to know their training process closely. Necessary changes should be made to the program, new elements should be added. For example, actions consisting of "wave" or risk elements. We would like to see these changes before the racing season begins.

- How is the program of Azerbaijani gymnasts different?

- You know, when your gymnasts demonstrate their programs, one feels like in a fairy tale. It seems to man that the tools in their hands are magical. They are very active. I like that they each have their own unique performances. They perform not only on one program, but in various combinations. I really like their artistry as well as their performance with the instrument. Mariana Vasileva, a member of the Executive Committee of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, was my coach. I am very grateful to him for teaching me not only in gymnastics, but also in life.

- What are your impressions of Azerbaijan?

- I love Baku very much. I really like this place. But the one that made a good impression on me is the old city. I also like the arena because it also has accommodations. Unfortunately, we do not have such conditions. In short, every condition has been created for athletes here.

- As a coach, what advice would you give to gymnasts?

- Let them work hard and win over themselves. Because if you dictate yourself, you can change the whole world.
