As per Idman.biz, Australian gymnast Aleksandra Kiroi-Bogatyreva, who won a license for the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games, said this in an interview with SBS Russian.
"Baku is my home. When Melbourne quarantined in 2021, we decided to continue training overseas. My parents bought a one-way ticket to Europe. Some things were not done, some issues were prevented by the coronavirus. I met Mariana Vasileva, head coach of the Azerbaijan national team, at the world championship held in Kitakyushu. She invited me to a training camp. This preparatory process lasted for three years."
The gymnast did not hide that she was attached to the capital during her stay in Azerbaijan: "I cannot imagine my life without Baku. My best friends are here, all the coaches are like family and everything is the best here."
