Taisiia Onofriichuk heads to Baku as World Cup leader

Ukrainian gymnast Taisiia Onofriichuk will arrive in Baku as the overall leader in the World Cup standings ahead of the upcoming European Cup, set to take place from May 1–4.

Onofriichuk leads the all-around series with a total of 95 points, Idman.biz reports.

She claimed gold in the Sofia leg and secured silver in the all-around category at the World Cup event held earlier in Baku.

She is currently ahead of Uzbekistan’s Takhmina Ikromova, who holds second place with 90 points, and Bulgaria’s Stiliana Nikolova, who rounds out the top three with 85 points.

In individual apparatus rankings, Onofriichuk also tops the hoop event. Meanwhile, Olympic champion Darja Varfolomeev of Germany leads in clubs and ribbon, and Alina Harnasko (competing as a neutral athlete) leads in ball routines.

This European Cup in Baku is expected to be a showcase of top-tier rhythmic gymnastics, with Onofriichuk emerging as one of the main contenders.
