The World Judo Juniors Championships continue in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, with Azerbaijani athletes showcasing their skills on the international stage.
As Idman.biz reports, on the second day of the competition, two representatives from Azerbaijan entered the mat.
Both of them had an early farewell to the World Championship.
Boys’ 73 kg
World Champion Vusal Galandarzade began his campaign in the second stage. He achieved victory in the round of 16 by defeating Anton Dubovic (IJF). However, his journey came to an end when he faced Yusuke Takeichi from Japan, resulting in a disappointing defeat.
Girls’ 57 kg
Fidan Alizada also started from the second stage. She secured impressive victories against Nino Tsiklauri (Georgia) and Aleksandra Kan (Tajikistan). However, since Alizada could not compete with Brazilian Bianca Reis, she bid farewell to the World Championship without a prize.
The Azerbaijani team finished the first day of the championship without a medal. Both Nizami Imranov (60 kg) and Aydan Valiyeva (52 kg) were unable to secure bronze medals, losing in their respective matches.
