Veteran Azerbaijani judoka Zulfiyya Huseynova expressed her pride after winning a bronze medal at the World Judo Championships in Las Vegas, emphasizing the significance of seeing Azerbaijan’s flag fly high.
Speaking to Report.az, Huseynova reflected on her third-place finish: “I’m glad to have earned a medal and to see Azerbaijan’s flag raised.
The long distance, fatigue, and a 12-hour time difference were challenging, but I am grateful for this achievement. Our former judokas also secured two golds and another bronze. I hope that in future world championships, our bronze medals will turn to gold, and even more of our athletes will compete for podium finishes.”
Azerbaijan’s veteran judo team concluded the Las Vegas tournament with 2 gold and 2 bronze medals, placing 12th overall.
