The International Judo Federation (IJF) has updated its world rankings following the 2025 European Championships held in Podgorica, Montenegro, reflecting the success of Azerbaijani judokas.
Team Azerbaijan secured one silver and four bronze medals at the continental event, Idman.biz reports.
Olympic champion Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) and silver medalist Zelym Kotsoiev (100 kg) have maintained their top positions in the global rankings.
Bronze medalists also saw notable improvements:
Zelim Tckaev (81 kg) moved up one spot to 7th place.
Rashid Mammadaliyev (73 kg) climbed three positions to 8th.
Murad Fatiyev (90 kg) advanced three ranks to 16th.
Ahmed Yusifov (60 kg) rose four places to 17th.
Additionally, Ushangi Kokauri (+100 kg), who placed fifth in Montenegro, gained three spots to rank 13th, while Tufan Bayramov (60 kg), who finished seventh, slipped one spot, also sitting at 13th.
These ranking boosts underscore Azerbaijan’s growing presence in international judo.
