Baku Open Tournament was held on the occasion of the Day of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan.
As per Idman.biz, about 200 athletes competed in the competition.
At the tournament, which started with the singing of the National Anthems of Azerbaijan and Brazil, the president of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club, Agil Ajalov, said that the main goal of their activities is to promote patriotism.
Later, Taleh Hasanov, founder of Azerbaijan Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Public Union, founder of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu martial art in Azerbaijan, wished success to the participants.
Fuad Karimov, chairman of the Public Union, spoke about the prospects of this type of sport during his speech.
Brazil's ambassador to Azerbaijan, Manuel Montenegro, considered his role in the formation of common values between the countries important. He also expressed his satisfaction with the comprehensive and close relations between the two countries.
At the end of the tournament, which included athletes of different age groups and weight classes, the winners were awarded with diplomas and medals in the respective nominations.
