Farid Gayibov: "Our frequent victories do not lead to complacency"

"September, when spring meets autumn, was rich in achievements and innovations both in the youth field and in sports."

This was said by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Farid Gayibov, while evaluating September, as reported by Idman.biz.

He said in the "Minister's Point of View" that he was particularly proud of the development of infrastructure last month: "As you know, among the projects implemented by our government to ensure the "Great Return" in the regions that have been freed from occupation and are being repopulated, the health of the population remains a top priority. The head of our state, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, laid the foundation of the "Imarat" stadium in the city of Agdam. The opening of this stadium will create favorable conditions for the development of sports in the region, as well as for hosting local and international competitions. Our Paralympians, who successfully followed in the footsteps of our Olympians in Paris, returned from the French capital with impressive results. Out of our 18 athletes competing in 7 sports, 11 medals were won, 4 of which were gold, placing Azerbaijan 28th among 168 countries and 13th among European nations. In my opinion, the success achieved by our Paralympians will significantly encourage the participation of people with disabilities in sports."

The minister noted that the Azerbaijani acrobatic gymnasts were also among those who won the historic victory this time: "Our acrobats secured 4 gold, 1 silver, and 3 bronze medals at the World Championship in Portugal, placing 3rd in the overall medal rankings. For the first time in the history of acrobatic gymnastics, our mixed pair won a gold medal in balance and mixed movements, as well as a silver in the team event. The bronze medal earned by our men's team in tempo movements was also a historic achievement. Another significant first was the silver medal won by our mixed pair at the Aerobic Gymnastics World Championship in Italy. I congratulate our athletes on their outstanding success.."

Gayibov reminded that our country hosted a number of prestigious international competitions in September: "The Formula 1 Grand Prix was organized at a high level in Azerbaijan for the 8th time. The number of fans in Formula 1 is increasing year by year. This year, the sale of all tickets was written in the history of Formula 1 Azerbaijan as a new record. The international handball tournament dedicated to the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the International Sea Breeze Cup IV in padel tennis, the SFA Federation Cup 2024 in sailing, the Vugar Gashimov Memorial in chess in Shusha and other competitions are held to develop a healthy lifestyle, modernize our country, It is useful for the development of sports. The city of Guba, our Sports Capital, was also remembered for the first international tournament Ulduz Cup among U12 football players. The winning of the silver medal by the students of Ulduz Football Academy in the competition where 8 teams from 5 countries competed is the first fruit of the work done. I believe that holding such competitions will support the development of children's football in our country, and will play an important role in instilling love and interest in sports in children. The Ministry of Youth and Sports is successfully continuing the "Healthy Life" project. Getting everyone to do sports is one of our main goals. Recently, the "Healthy Life" machine was put into use. The mobile car will create conditions for people to practice sports in the regions, as well as in places where there are no sports facilities. The tournaments we held among state institutions in various types continued in September. Holding such competitions is useful in terms of increasing the popularity of sports among people and promoting a healthy lifestyle."

Gayibov said that in his meetings with the President of the European Weightlifting Federation, Antonio Conflitti, the President of the European Paralympic Committee, Raymond Blondel, and the Executive President of the European Table Tennis Union, Pedro Miguel Moura, they discussed the work done in the direction of the development of sports and the opportunities for mutual cooperation: "Congo Minister of Sports and Recreation Didier Budimbu In my meeting with Ntubuanga, besides exchanging ideas on sports cooperation, we also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation. During my visit to Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, I had the opportunity to watch some competitions of the 5th World Nomad Games. I had bilateral meetings with my colleagues from several countries. I also spoke at the eighth meeting of youth and sports ministers of the Organization of Turkish States (TDT). I believe that holding such events is very important in terms of further strengthening of cooperation with the Turkish states in the fields of youth and sports. As the vice-president of the Bureau of the IX Session of the Conference of the Parties to the International Convention against Doping in Sport (COP9) of UNESCO, I participated in the joint meeting of the COP9 Bureau and Confirmation Committee members held in New Delhi, India. In a meeting with India's Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Nikhil Khadse, we discussed the current relations and future cooperation prospects between the two countries in the field of youth and sports. I participated in the international conference "Creating an inclusive landscape in anti-doping", as well as in the second official meeting of the Bureau of the IX Session of the Conference of the Parties to the International Convention against Doping in Sports.

According to the minister, the traditional meetings held every month continued this month: "In our meeting with our athletes who have successfully represented our country in prestigious international competitions and their coaches, we talked about their victories with our athletes and the process of preparing for competitions. We also had a separate meeting with our paralympians who were successful in Paris. We also met with the members of the Birbasha Baku team, the winner of the European Champions League in mini-football. I once again congratulate all athletes who have successfully represented our country in international competitions. Although the successes are increasing day by day, it does not make us confident. On the contrary, it prompts to look at tomorrow more responsibly. The implemented reforms should not only be the basis of our successes, but also pave the way for future perspectives. Therefore, our strategy should become our main road map to reach new goals.
