April 6 is celebrated as International Sports Day.

UN General Assembly adopted a decision on this in 2013, Idman.biz reports.

The official name of the day is the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, and this date was chosen because the first modern Olympic Games began on April 6, 1896, in Athens, the capital of Greece.
