Paris holds the Opening Ceremony in the River Seine

The opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games will be held today.

As Idman.biz reports, the event, which will take place in the Seine River, will begin at 22:00 Baku time.

It is true that the Olympics started two days ago. Football and rugby-7 teams started to compete on July 24. Handball and archery competitions were held yesterday.

Although no competition is planned on the day of the opening ceremony, an official training process will be organized in some types of shooting. The participants of the 10 m shooting competition with a pistol in which the representative of Azerbaijan, Ruslan Lunev, is competing, will also go in front of the target. The training of Lunev and his opponents will start at 12:00.

After 10 hours, the opening ceremony will be held, which will go down in history with its uniqueness. For the first time in history, this event will take place outside the stadium - on the river Seine.

Moreover, it will be free to watch the opening in the open air without a ticket. Therefore, the opening ceremony will go down in history as the largest in terms of both the venue and the number of spectators.

In addition, the parade of athletes will take place on the Seine river in boats. The parade, which will start from the Austerlitsk bridge near the Paris Botanical Garden, will cover a distance of 6 km from east to west. At the opening ceremony, the Azerbaijani flag will be waved by judoka Gultaj Mammadaliyava and boxer Mahammad Abdullayev.

About 11,000 athletes from 206 countries will compete in 32 sports at the Olympics, which will last until August 11. The winner of 329 sets of medals will be determined in the competition.

The Azerbaijani national team will be represented in 17 programs of 15 sports in Paris 2024. Our team is going to the French capital with 48 athletes. Some of them are already in Paris, while others will leave in the coming days.
